1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?

I work with clients who are experiencing emotional abuse in their relationship. More specifically, their partner is a narcissist and /or abusing substances.

2. Tell us about yourself. 

I left community mental health in 2018 and started doing contract work and was a therapist for BetterHelp. The BetterHelp experience gave me confidence to start my private practice in 2021. I love the flexibility of private practice as well as the ability to define a niche. I am passionate about helping my clients find freedom after experiencing high levels of emotional abuse. I am excited to work with all of my clients,

3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.

I had a female client struggling in her marriage. She was in her early thirties and had been married for about 7 years (no kids). Her husband started excessively drinking early on in the marriage and despite all of her attempts, he was unable to admit he had a problem or reduce his drinking. She felt so much responsibility for his health and keeping him safe when he was making bad decisions. We worked together through her separation and divorce. She moved back to the city and is enjoying her lif

4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?

The hardest thing for me is not interacting with colleagues during the day. I make it a point to meet with other therapists for coffee, networking and often work out of a coffee shop or coworking space on days that I have set aside for admin work.

5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\

The top 3 things I would suggest to someone who is new to private practice would be:


  1. You don't have to have a master plan. Start small.
  2. Make relationships with referral partners in you community.
  3. Set up a profile on Psychology Today or a similar platform.
