1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?
I work with both couples and individuals dealing with a wide range of issues from stage of life to anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, infidelity and generally not being happy in their lives.
2. Tell us about yourself.
I returned to school and got my Masters and Doctorate after 15 years as an on-air television new reporter. When my daughter was born, I realized I couldn't be the kind of parent I needed to be, and it reawakened my undergraduate focus on psychology. I love seeing the concrete changes my patients make in their lives as they become more centered, focused, and fulfilled.
3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.
I have helped more than a thousand individuals and couples during the last 30 years, dealing with infidelity, anger/withdrawal patterns, anxiety, depression, grief and addiction. A current client with severe OCD is now in a stable relationship and job; many couples on the verge of divorce have meaningful and fulfilling relationships; a widowed client is happily dating again without needing to find another permanent partner.
4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?
It is vitally important to be part of a network with other therapists. I have been in a Supervision group with 11 other seasoned therapists for 15 years, meeting once a month to discuss cases as well as offer mutual support. You also have to be ok with your income and case lode being inconsistent, as well as carve out free time for yourself.
5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\
