1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?
I have always enjoyed working with a diverse clientele seeking support in a variety of issues. However, through time and experience, I have found a passion for working with adults in helping them to heal from traumas and learn positive ways to manage depression and anxiety. I particularly enjoy providing EMDR as a modality to target and work through clients' traumas while also emphasizing mindfulness practices.
2. Tell us about yourself.
I attribute my growth and skills to agencies I've worked for that have provided me opportunities to not only grow as a clinician but also as a supervisor and a manager. Through learning the business side of mental health and gaining that experience, I developed the confidence to build my own practice. What motivates me each day to do what I do is being able to witness my clients' growth and having the flexibility and control of my time and focus.
3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.
I worked with a client for almost 9 years during my tenure at a prior agency. When I first started working with this client, they were experiencing severe depression and anxiety. We worked through some of their hardest moments in life. Over the years, the client learned healthy ways to manage their symptoms and we were able to reach a point of maintenance. The client thanked me for helping to save their life and that continues to stick with me.
4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?
I find the hardest thing that comes with transitioning to my own private practice is the isolation and not having colleagues to consult with and collaborate with on a daily basis. However, I'm fortunate to have met so many amazing colleagues along the way who I can reach out to when needed.
