1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?

I am a holistic chiropractor who specializes in acupuncture and functional health. I can honestly say I have a unique mixture of patients but have seen a great increase in women and men looking into their hormonal health. I still get the pain patients but I have had some intricate cases recently and I absolutely love it! Our focus is to treat the source and not just the area of complaint.

2. Tell us about yourself.

I have worked for others for a while and in 2022, something inside of me snapped and I just knew I had to start my own practice. I had many other signs as I received donations and discounted furniture and supplies. I am truly motivated by my patients and being able to improve people's lives. In some cases, we do not find completely cure the patient but we give them answers.

3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.

This patient was injured at work and had massive surgery performed to his bicep. I was still rediscovering acupuncture and seeking out my notes as I had given up on acupuncture. He came to see me after an auto accident and heard I also did acupuncture and wanted to see if it would help his arm as he had no feeling or movement after the surgery. It was not related to his auto accident and did not charge for it. After 8 sessions, he was able to move his arm and feel sensations.

4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?

When you do not budget for staff- you are doing everything! I am doing research, marketing, budgeting, scheduling, cleaning, decorating, organizing, and arranging. So, it requires a lot of learning and figuring out and being detailed.

5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\

The top three tips I would give.

  1. Make sure you have a business plan in order.
  2. Either get in touch with WBDC or SCORE in order to double check if you are doing it all correct. They offer free mentoring which has helped a lot!
  3. Plan, plan, plan! Make sure you have some dates to relax and rejuvenate- family vacation, retreat, a symposium. Starting a practice was the most strenuous and refreshing thing I have ever done.

6. Where can people find you?
