1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?
Rose Wellness is a fully virtual group practice in Maryland with 14 therapists who have varied backgrounds, training, and specialties. As a trauma informed therapist, I was eager to hire therapists with similar training as the demand was so high. Over time, however, I noticed a need for more eclectic specialties like CBT, DBT, existential, narrative, and clinicians who work with children, couples, and families. I am so proud of how we can serve a much more diverse population now!
2. Tell us about yourself.
I first started private practice as a part time gig in 2019, due to wanting more autonomy in my clinical approach. Within just a few months, I was able to transition to full time private practice! I decided to start hiring therapists about a year later, and Rose Wellness was born. Now, my energy is focused on managing the business, private practice consulting, public speaking, and freelance writing! I continue to stay motivated when I see how much our clinicians are impacting their clients.
3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.
I recently began transitioning the remainder of my caseload to other therapists, and stepping out of a clinical, client-facing role as been bittersweet. I have been working with one client in particular on a weekly basis since 2019, and in the termination process we have been reviewing their growth, resilience, and strength of spirit in the last 4 years. It feels like such an honor to be able to get to witness first hand how profoundly amazing humans are. So bittersweet to say goodbye!
4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?
When I was first working in a solo setting, the isolation was difficult. I wanted more autonomy in my clinical approach, but missed the peer supervision and benefit of having colleagues. Having a group practice has really changed that for me, as I'm constantly in contact with the clinicians. The hardest part of me now is learning how to be a business owner instead of a therapist! I'm grateful to have authenticity and empathy on my side, as I never want Rose Wellness to lose it's integrity.
