1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?

Stress management! I am an integrated mental health professional, so I focus on making sure that patients take care of their basic needs and help them to create a great self-care routine. I work with a lot of patients that have chronic illness, and teach them ways to cope with the daily frustrations of being sick. I am the author of the book "Color, Draw, Collage: Create your way to a less stressful life" As an art therapist, I have many creative tools to inspire people to help themselves.

2. Tell us about yourself.

I worked in a hospital and a cancer center for 13 years and created a complementary and alternative medicine program for them. It was so inspiring to help patients on their healing journey. In private practice I enjoy the connection that I have with my patients and seeing their continued progress is so satisfying!

3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.

There’s no way that I could pick just one! It’s more about the little moments. Those aha moments when you see a patient truly understand and be willing to make a shift in their life. I feel so proud when a patient is proud of themselves and the changes that they have made. I love being the person who can help inspire them to be their best.

4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?

Scheduling! It’s very frustrating to deal with cancellations and having to move around schedules to accommodate conflicts. I chose my office because it is in a beautiful location so when I have a last minute cancellation, I can get a walk in! It is really difficult for me to sit all day.

5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\

The top three tips I would give anyone looking to start, run, and grow their private practice is to:

  1. Get help! I hired a biller and she is worth every penny! It is worth it to me to make less money, but have less stress.
  2. It’s all about finding balance for yourself many people in private practice take on too large a caseload.
  3. They forget to focus on their own, basic needs. It is important to find a good work life balance, in order to be a healthy practitioner.

6. Where can people find you?
