1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?

I specialize in working with adults who are recovering from trauma, addictions...or both! I also have a sub-specialty helping former cult members. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and work with lots of creative people. In addition to talk therapy I also do EMDR and KAP (Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy).

2. Tell us about yourself.

I’m an LA native who went to UCSD to get my BA in Psychology and then came back home to get my Master’s and Doctorate in Psychology from Pepperdine University. I know what it’s like to have to reach out for help and how the transformation process can be both grueling and exhilarating. I am a huge movie fan, and my husband and I have a menagerie of rescue animals that we hope to never stop increasing.

3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.

I definitely have a soft spot for the former cult members I work with. Seeing them recover and grow is super rewarding. The other day I heard from a former client who grew up in a cult that they had earned their Masters degree and were working full time at a job they loved and that was so moving to hear.

4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?

Looking at therapy as a business. Now, whether or not it should be a business is a whole other discussion. But in America in 2023 it is a business, and it's ok to operate like one. You can be a business at the same time you are being a therapist who is focused on helping people.

5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\

1) Educate yourself before starting. Take a class, read books, do whatever you need to get the information we don't get in school.

2) Know that it's ok to think of yourself as an entrepreneur who owns & operates their own small business.

3) Start or join a peer consultation group now, even before you start your practice.

6. Where can people find you?
