1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?
I offer telehealth appointments to adult clients to help them improve their overall well-being, both personally and professionally, by teaching them new skills, intervention techniques and building habits to address their issues. Clients who seek my services are usually individuals facing challenges related to stress management, anxiety, executive functioning skills such as time management and organization, and career development.
2. Tell us about yourself.
From a young age, I enjoyed helping others while working as a camp counselor, substitute teacher and English as a Second Language instructor.
The motivation comes from seeing the personal growth of the clients I work with. They come to me feeling overwhelmed, stressed or disorganized and by working with me, they learn new skills and strategies to be more successful. Another motivator is when clients establish a goal, work toward implementing it, and have a positive outcome of success.
3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.
A female client contacted me because she was feeling overwhelmed with work and family. We addressed her overwhelm by using coping strategies and techniques to help her sleep. She slept through the night, which she hadn’t been able to do in a while. During the day, she felt a sense of calm, wasn’t overthinking, and acknowledged how her perfectionism was getting in the way of feeling a sense of accomplishment.
4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?
As a practitioner in private practice, one aspect I incorporated from the beginning was seeking out help as needed. I knew that I was skilled at my profession but didn’t have experience as an entrepreneur. Becoming a business owner was new to me since I had always worked for others before. Over the years, I learned various aspects of business management. Implementing aspects of business branding and marketing has been fun for me since I enjoy the creative aspect of it.
