1. What's your practice focus and what kind of clients knock on your door ?
The focus of my practice is to help busy people optimize their health through optimization of nutrition, exercise, & sleep. I strongly believe in the power of preventative medicine & pushing for more wellness assessments for adults to help them live their retirement age healthy & doing things they love! The clients that knock on my door are the ones that want to take a proactive approach to their health but need some guidance/structure to help with their nutrition, exercise, & sleep.
2. Tell us about yourself.
As a physical therapist, I worked in various settings & firsthand see the shortcomings of our current healthcare system. Our healthcare system is designed to help those that are critically ill but not those with chronic & preventable diseases. After working in many different settings,I knew that I could provide more for my patients without being constrained by insurance! Now, as a health coach, I get to help my patients/clients reach their health goals in a more meaningful & holistic way!
3. Tell us the story of a patient who you are most proud of helping.
I remember working with an older Italian lady that had chronic back pain. The pain was affecting her walking & social activities (loved strolling in the mall!). We worked on improving her pain, specifically tailored exercise to improve her strength/mobility, & coached her on nutrition/sleep in improving her overall health! After 2-3 months, she was back to walking & strolling in the mall with minimal pain! She was the most grateful & left the sweetest letter expressing her gratitude!
4. What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a practitioner in private practice?
The hardest thing is having to juggle everything from marketing, operations, collaborations, & also providing excellent clinical care! This can be tough especially with trying to maintain work-life balance so I really make sure that I am exercising at least 2-3x/wk & meditating (even 5 minutes sometimes) daily so I have the mental fortitude to handle the grind of being a business owner.
5. What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a private practice today?\
The top 3 tips I would give to anyone looking to start, run, and grow a private practice today would be :
- Start Now! I have learned from very smart people in my circle that there is no right time to start. If you feel passionate about a business venture & have done your due diligence with research, go for it!
- Be Open Minded! How my business is set up now is not exactly how I shaped it to be when I was thinking of starting my practice! I learned from business coaches that I NEED to use technology to help with running my business!
- Take care of your own health! Think long game always!
